ANYONE who has been to one of my “Longwall Strata Control” lectures will know I tend to talk about aeroplanes from time to time. This is partly due to the fact that I find aeroplanes more fun than coal mining, and that I probably should have been a fighter pilot rather than a mining engineer (dream on). Brierty profit down, but year ahead looking better


PERTH-based civil contractor Brierty has posted a net profit of $3.76 million for the 2008 financial year, considerably down on the forecast range of $8.2–9.2 million given in April this year, which in turn was down on the $10.3 million profit previously forecast in the company’s 2007 prospectus.
